NITROX FACILITIES

Relax … Yes Frankie's Gozo Dive Center is now a Nitrox Center.

You can typically stay down longer and get back into the water sooner, when diving on Enriched Air Nitrox.  If you don’t know why that is, then come along and find out for yourselves.

We offer along with all our other PADI Courses the PADI Enriched Air Specialty (EANx).

What is Nitrox?

Nitrox is any mixture of Nitrogen and Oxygen, in recreational diving, Nitrox refers to an increased percentage of Oxygen and is commonly called Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx). Increasing the oxygen content (percentage), in turn, reduces the amount of nitrogen (inert gas) used during the dive. This reduces the potential for decompression sickness. Nitrox also has other benefits, which include longer no decompression times, reduced surface intervals and reduced post dive fatigue.
Nitrox is often regarded as a deep diving gas by divers who are not familiar with Nitrox. "I don't need nitrox coz I don't dive that deep" is a usual mistaken comment.
You don't need to be a physics professor to learn to dive with Nitrox as the academics can easily be completed in one day, including dive table revision. Remember ….if you knew the benefits of Nitrox, you'd be diving with it too!

The course, which will run over two days will look at and discuss oxygen physiology and toxicity, the symptoms and effects of nitrogen on the human physiology and deep diving procedures for depth to 40 metres. It will also cover Nitrox and oxygen equipment compatibility for Nitrox mixtures containing up to 40% oxygen.
